(Please note that some lecture-based courses have a free period after lunch on Saturday and practical courses include a clearing up session from 2-3pm on Sunday.) Resident learners are expected to arrive in time for dinner at 6.45pm on Friday.


 

Course level: Suitable for all levels.

This course aims to... introduce learners to an exciting and fulfilling art experience: painting in coloured waxes using an iron and other hot tools.

It is for... learners of all abilities with a creative streak who are looking for something different and exciting.

During the course... you will learn how to use an iron, hot air gun, scriber etc and learn the techniques to produce amazing original paintings in a fun and addictive environment. Attention will be paid to helping you develop your own style and creativity.

Assessment will be... by individual feedback from the tutor.

By the end of the course… you should be able to:

 

·         Use all tools of encaustic wax painting.

·         Use techniques of encaustic wax painting to produce your own work.

·         Work creatively in this exciting medium.

 

 

After the course... you can put your ideas into action and produce some amazing paintings and maybe go on to another encaustic wax course to push the boundaries on a larger scale.

Please bring… apron (not nylon), notepad, pencil and rubber.

Additional costs: A starter kit is available for £46.00 which includes an encaustic wax iron, 12 coloured wax blocks, 50 sheets of painting card, 6 metallic wax sticks, a mount and instruction booklet.

 

Alternatively an encaustic wax iron can be hired for £5. Painting card and waxes can also be purchased from the Tutor. Please contact us ten days before the start of the course if you require a starter kit or wish to hire an iron (see contact details below).
