This course aims to... give you the opportunity to
make detailed brush sketches of chickens, ducks, swans and geese in a variety
of poses. You will then develop these into compositions in the Chinese style.
It is for... all levels of ability.
During the course... you will complete sketches of
the birds and learn the traditional subjects to include in a composition e.g.
swans are often painted with wisteria. You will cover ways of creating a
background through washes. Painting will be mainly in freestyle but will
include some fine line work on paper and silk.
Assessment will be... through individual discussion
with learners on how to develop and improve their skills. The last session will
be a general critique.
By the end of the course… you should be able to:
· Make detailed sketches of chickens and wildfowl
· Complete a composition of the birds in their natural surroundings
· Paint a colour washed background
· Mount your painting for display
· Know some of the history and symbolism surrounding the subject
After the
course: Maggie
will give you ideas on how to continue working in this subject through courses,
books and DVDs.
Please bring:
Additional

set of materials will cost approximately £20.
