This course aims to... introduce learners to the art of woven tapestry; to enable learners to put a warp on a simple frame loom, to learn all the traditional tapestry weaving techniques and explore contemporary techniques, colour and design; to learn finishing techniques and the removal of the finished work from the loom.

It is for... anyone who loves working with yarns. No experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided. Learners may wish to bring a camera and notebook and any of their own yarns to incorporate into their work.

During the course... we will discuss the history and background of tapestry weaving using examples. We will produce a woven sampler using a number of traditional and contemporary techniques. We will discuss colour and design and explore how these can be used to good effect in woven tapestry.
